Laminate flooring broadens room design options
If you like wood look
floors, laminate planks may be best for your home. The human-made planks come
in a variety of wood species, finishes, and textures. You may also want to
consider a tile look. Laminate tiles that imitate marble, slate, and other high-end
quarried stone are trendy at this time. The flooring specialists at
Quality Carpet + Flooring can help you make a good flooring choice. Our locally-owned
flooring company offers laminate in Englewood, Florida, manufactured by top
companies like Mannington and Mohawk.
Four layers of synthetic
materials are pressed together during the lamination process. The fiberboard
core makes up the bulk of a plank or tile; this core keeps the floor warm to
the touch throughout the four seasons. The backing layer protects the subfloor
as well as the core. The high-tech image layer is situated on top of the core,
and the surface wear layer protects the image from stains and abrasion.
Underlayment enhances the performance of the flooring.
Water-resistant vs. Waterproof
Standard laminate
resists water while laminate marked waterproof repels water. If the flooring is
resistant to water, it is not damaged when it is cleaned up immediately.
Waterproof laminate flooring does not peel or warp as long as the water is
removed within 72 hours. Usually, laminate planks and flooring can tolerate
water for up to 30 hours. It's always best to mop or wipe up water as soon as
possible.
